0:19 Thanks for joining me today! Today we’re going to talk about how to tune into those limiting beliefs that stir up inside us and keep us from moving forward. A limiting belief is a lie we tell ourselves to keep us safe. That’s a lie that tells you that it’s not safe to take that next step or pitch that podcast. It’s not safe to go to that event or start that business. It’s not safe to put yourself out there. We could go on and on all day. There’s something you know you should be doing but you can’t. These limiting beliefs keep you safe and help keep you stuck in the same patterns. That’s what your subconscious is trained to do.
3:12 Where do you look for these beliefs? You might see visions, it’s almost like you’re seeing a movie you haven’t seen yet. You might start to play a movie of what might potentially go wrong. More times than not, that’s a limiting belief. That’s your subconscious scaring you to stay in one place and keeping you safe. Are you going to look at that movie and say, “that’s not real and that’s not really going to happen.” Maybe you can play yourself a different movie with a happy ending instead of the horror movie that is playing in your head.
5:22 These beliefs can also come in words, the voices we hear in our head. This is the self-talk, the language that the people around us say. This is something else to be aware of is the voice of those around you when you share an idea with them if they say that it won’t work or not to try that. Deep down, these are things you’ve also thought of before. These are things you might have told yourself that you aren’t good enough, too tall enough, that it’s already been done before.
And if you are telling yourself these things, these are things that you need to change what you’re telling yourself right now. Flip the script. If you’re telling yourself that it’s already been done before, instead tell yourself that it hasn’t been done the way you’re doing it. If you’re telling yourself you’re not enough, tell yourself that yes you are. You are enough. Find those reasons you are enough right now. Change those negative thoughts to something positive. Both what you’re telling yourself and what you’re allowing others to tell you.
8:59 The last way you’ll notice these limits in emotions. As soon as you start to feel anxiety, nerves, and fear, what do you do? That’s the make or break and what is different with successful people – they feel the fear and they do it anyway. Our mind will tell us not to take that step, but when you do it anyway, then your mind will know that you can do it anyway. This becomes a way to condition your mind for success. You’re able to tell your limits that they are wrong and you are right. You start to move past those limiting beliefs. You have to tune in and listen to what you’re allowing others to say in your life and little by little, you can start to change these.
11:40 There is still something to be said about intuition. What I’m telling you here is not telling you to ignore your intuition, but there is a difference between listening to your limits, and your intuition. If you tune into yourself, you’ll learn how to differentiate between your fear and your intuition.
