Did you know that five words can change your life? Lately we have been talking about using the Mindset Switch to change how you think and feel. This can be applied to all areas of life.

The Mindset Switch is a process for evaluating and becoming aware of the words we’re using and the thoughts we’re thinking and how they make us feel and behave. So when we can get really clear about that and bring those things out of our subconscious, we are able to evaluate if these thoughts are actually serving us.

A Real-Life Example of a Client Doubting Herself

Recently, I had a breakthrough session with a coaching client who was struggling with feeling valuable. She has an online business and she is constantly worried about putting content out there. She’s constantly wondering if they will ask for a refund or – worse – not ask for a refund but talk bad about her on Planet Internet.

We went through the 5 D’s of the Mindset Switch.

  • Discover –  where you figure out what is wrong
  • Dream – where you figure out what you want and who you want to be
  • Declutter – where you let go of the thoughts, triggers, and behaviors that are not serving you
  • Do – where you do something positive to step into that version of yourself
  • Detach – where you let go of desperation and the need

Question 1: What are you currently thinking?

What is wrong with what you are thinking and what are those consequences?

With these questions you will get to the essence of what is wrong in this moment. Are you up against a block and encountering resistance? Are you feeling like you are not worthy or enough.

My client’s’s answered that she is afraid. She is afraid that she is not providing enough value. She questions herself. Will they pay for it and am I delivering?

I’m sure you’ve felt these thoughts before, too. Identifying what you are currently thinking is the discovery stage.

Dig into the discovery and understanding what is happening deep within by asking yourself “How do I react when I think that thought?”

My client felt that she was resisting creating new content, giving away content for free, spending too much time creating this free content, lowering prices, and discounting services. She was afraid the price wants to charge is too high and forever comparing herself to others who do the same.

When you’re doubting yourself like this, sabotage steps in and you resist stepping into your power.

Question 2: What is it that you really want?

As Byron Katie would ask Who would I be without that thought?

In my client’s eyes, she would be an influencer and authority figure.

If she was really accepted for what she does in the way she does it. She would have confidence. Her personality would shine.

Do any of those things sound familiar to you?

It’s really beautiful to recognize those things. What’s even more beautiful is that you are all of these things right now.

The disconnect comes in the decluttering phase to find out what it is that you need to let go of – the triggers and behaviors that are keeping you from feeling like you are all of these things.

Question 3: What do I need to let go of in order to step into this person?

For my client, her answer was comparison.

I see this everywhere. Comparison is one of the biggest things for all of us. In all aspects of our lives, comparison causes us to ignore our inner guidance system and what’s true for us and how to make it work for us.

My client realized that she was seeing what everyone else was doing on Facebook and it was causing her to think that is what she should be doing. So, I told her to take a 30 Day FB detox. Facebook was not helping her mindset and not a necessary component to running an online business.

30 days is enough for your mind to reset and for your brain to form new neural pathways.

If you are afraid of doing a detox because of losing the connection, remember that this is the time to connect with yourself. Get approval from yourself. Work to get excited about it on your own without other’s input. Then you can start to share with enthusiasm that is actually magnetic.

Question 4: What can you do to step into the power of who you are and your truth right now today?

Some of the things that my client answered were to: help her clients, meditate, and detach from outside world to actually feel the next step. She could finally create that new product she has been wanting to do.

Taking inspired action helps you to connect to your truth which makes you vibe goes way up.

Question 5: If the worst case scenario happens. who will I be?

Will that change who you are as a person? This thought is so scary that we avoid to ask this question. But I invite you to imagine the worst case scenario and go down the rabbit hole.

My client’s worst case scenario was that no one would buy, everyone would hate her and rumors would spread to lead to the end of her business.

Your business is not an extension of you. You can detach yourself from your business. It is your creation and something you put a lot into but not who you are.

My client answered, “I still be me. I will still want to share my gifts. It won’t be the end of the world after all.”

After she realized that, I asked her, “How does that make you feel?”

She said the pressure is now gone. She felt empowered and like it would be easier to take action.

This is the process of completely transforming your mindset to step into your truth.

  • 7:12 If you’re listening to this podcast, you are one of the many, many women that I work with and spend time with every day who value making a difference above making money. What we’re trying to do in this business is have both in equal amounts.
  • 9:36 You have the power and the capacity to be this beautiful magical being right now. That’s who you are at your core. That’s your truth. You are made of love. That’s all you’re made of. Everything else is smoke and mirrors.
  • 13:55 When you are mimicking what other people are doing you are not connecting with your true self. You are essentially becoming an echo of everyone else. That’s not your gift. Your gift isn’t to mimic. Your gift is to look within and to find what is amazing about you.
