It’s easy to fall into the trap of giving away your services at a discount (or even free) when a family member or friend asks for your help. But should you do it? There is no right or wrong answer here, but I do recommend having an “exclusive discount policy” in place just so that you’re armed and ready to handle the question when it does come up.

This is especially important if you’re a natural born people pleaser or are like me and you almost always end up becoming friends with your clients.

If you’re friends and family members really care about you and value what you do, they’ll understand that you have to earn a living and they’ll gladly pay for the service you provide. If not, then you’d be wasting your time serving them anyway.
