Have you ever thought that your gifts and talents might be a luxury to other people? If you could bring balance to their lives, you could start to get paid for your genius. If you are great with dogs and cats, you can be a whisperer between them and their owners. People will start to put value on that one thing that you do for free because you just love doing it. One of the greatest keys to wealth is when you create a business around your talent.

Listen to the podcast:

Get Paid for Your Genius

What is the easiest way to go from doing things for free to making freedom money?

The answer is simple. You do what you love, do what you’re good at, do what comes easy and naturally.

In the last episode, we discussed being different and how being different is better than being better because you’re tapping into your unique value and what makes you different from anybody else in your industry who’s doing what it is that you’re doing.

One of the questions that I get all the time when I’m talking to women who have brilliant gifts and talents is that, “I don’t know how I would get paid to do this. I’ve been doing it for free for so long. Nobody’s going to pay me for this. Even if I do decide to turn this into a business or make this the primary focus of my business, I can’t, for the life of me, imagine that somebody would pay me a premium for this.”

I beg to differ. Yes, they will.

There is somebody in the world who struggles with what you are naturally gifted at and needs it. Your gift, your inherent talent, is what somebody else is craving to bring balance into their life.

If you are currently not getting paid for your genius, I want you to consider what it would be like if you were. What is your genius? What are you amazing at? What do you love to do? What do you love to do so much that you would do it for free or you’re already doing it for free? What do people come to you for? Why do people seek your advice, your friends, your family, your neighbors, your colleagues? What does everybody come to you to do?

That one little thing is your key to wealth.

Do what you love, do what you're good at, do what comes easy and naturally. Click To Tweet

I’m going to run through a list of examples and I want you to think, “How do these make sense for people?”

Do you know of anybody who has turned these talents into a business? Even if you don’t know them personally, you know of them. Are you naturally good with animals? Are you a dog lover? How many businesses can you turn into wealthy careers just because you love animals? You don’t have to be a vet. You could be like Cesar and be a dog whisperer. You could start a dog washing service or walking service. You can doggy-sit. You can do all kinds of things simply because you love to spend time with animals. You do it anyway. You probably rescue every animal that comes your way. You probably get on the floor and cuddle with the dogs and kitty cats when you go to a friend’s house.

Turn it into a business, it’s your genius.

Are you a good listener? Do people come to you for advice? Is that your gift? Do people love to open up and share with you? Are you the type of person that you could just be in line at the grocery store and the lady in front of you turns around and starts telling you her whole life story? Perhaps there is a career waiting for you in coaching.

Do you love writing? Is that a gift? Have you always been really good at it? Can you write for other people or teach people how to be more effective writers? Could you be an author? There are so many places where you could write. You could write just to write and submit it to magazines and columns.

Are you a natural born storyteller? What can you do to create a career around that? People need stories in their lives. That’s how we learn as humans. That, in it of itself, is a really valuable gift.

Are you funny? You can bring happiness and entertainment to other people’s lives. You can teach people how to be funny. You can help people infuse humor into their brands.

Are you naturally organized? Do you like things to be just so? Maybe you get ridiculed for that a little bit. Maybe people give you a hard time and joke around that you’re OCD, but that’s a gift. It’s a talent. Some people lack that, and they need you in their life.

Are you detail-oriented and a natural planner? Do you have the ability to plan things out in advance and organize thoughts, ideas, projects, events? Think about all the opportunities and the possibilities there. Not everybody can do that stuff.

Are you really gifted at remembering people’s names? It might be that your zone of genius is that you are a natural born connector and you can make a career out of really matching people. You could match the right copywriter with the right entrepreneur. You can match the right web designer with the right graphic designer and help to facilitate partnerships. You can be the Match.com of the business world.

There are so many ideas and so many ways to create abundance and unlimited wealth. Even though they’re right in front of us, they’ve been a part of us our whole life, we often overlook them because we’re looking for something else, something beyond what it is that we already contain.

I beg of you to take a moment, consider your own gifts, your own genius. What is it that you’re already doing for free? What activities do you engage in? What do you do on a regular basis that you love to do and think, “If I could get paid to do this all day long, I would.”

Maybe you love to talk. I know I do. That is why I have a podcast because this is my job, to sit here and ramble on and on and talk to you. It’s part of my career. I used to get told as a child, “You talk too much. Just simmer down, you’re talking way too much.” Now, I’m like, “Yes, I am, and I am getting paid for it.”

What is it that you would like to spend all your days doing? Is it really possible for you to get paid a lot of money to do that? If you doubt or you question, or you think, for even a hot second, no, come talk to me. I want to help you refute that limiting belief.
